Having been a member of the SL Newspaper for some time now, and mingled with my fellow reporters on both social & official occasions, I already knew that each of us has a special talent or knack for creativity.Obviously because we all are involved in the newspaper we generally do not use our medium to promote ourselves. However, I have decided to break that 'rule' and declare myself a fan of a colleague, namely
Voodoo Buwan.
I knew from past experience that he was not only a great photographer but also, on the sly, a rather good poet too. After a chance conversation, I hopped over to his new studio, and found a whole new version of the Voodoo I already knew. The photographs within are of everyday subjects but at the same time manage to provoke quite extraordinary emotions and mental images. One in particular (I won't mention title), initially invoked a sexual content, followed by an alien type emotion, then finally (very strange) a combination of both!!
Voodoo has managed to create an exhibition of his work that is both 'static' but full of life, emotion, depth and simplicity all in one.
His 'romantic' & quite deep side can be found within his poetry also (see the book as you enter).
I for one am delighted to have visited his gallery, bought.. yes bought some of his work & placed it with pleasure in my SL house, but am even more pleased that he is one of the members of a team that I am proud to be part of, and will always support.
VOODOO, keep up the great work mate.
