Come promesso, ecco alcune foto della tradizionale Festa del Redentore che si tiene puntualmente ogni Luglio nel bacino di San Marco a Venezia: si tratta di una tradizione dal significato piuttosto antico iniziata nella seconda metà del 1500.

In seguito alla fine della peste che in pochi anni decimò la popolazione veneziana, venne costruita la Chiesa del Redentore sull’isola della Giudecca (di fronte Piazza San Marco) come ringraziamento per la fine della pestilenza e venne costruito un ponte di barche temporaneo per collegare la Giudecca alla riva di San Marco, al fine di permettere ai veneziani di raggiungere in una sorta di pellegrinaggio la nuova Chiesa.

As I promised, here are some pics of the traditional Festa del Redentore, which takes place every July in the San Marco’s Basin in Venice: this is a traditional festivity with quite an ancient historical meaning, since it took place for the first time in the second half of the 16^th century.

In those years, a terrible plague was decimating the Venice’s population: at the end of it, the city’s senators decided to build the Church of the Redentore on the Giudecca island (in front of San Mark’s square) to thank God for the end of the plague; they also built a temporary bridge to link the Giudecca with the bank on St. Mark’s square, so people could walk from one side to the other in order to visit the new Church on a kind of pilgrimage.

Nei secoli tale celebrazione si è ripetuta ed anche ai giorni nostri ogni anno viene riallestito questo ponte provvisorio: il Sabato sera ha luogo uno spettacolo di fuochi d’artificio nello specchio d’acqua tra Piazza San Marco e la Giudecca e l’intera città si riversa nelle calli per ammirare il meraviglioso effetto dei fuochi che si rispecchiano sull’acqua della laguna….

Venezia merita di per sé una visita, a maggior ragione in tale occasione, visto che lo spettacolo pirotecnico è davvero qualcosa che toglie il fiato!!

This celebration continued every year through the centuries and also nowadays Venetians rebuild the temporary bridge: on Saturday night is scheduled a fireworks show in the water basin between St. Mark’s square and the Giudecca island, and the entire city walks down through the calli (the typical Venice’s little roads) to admire the marvellous sight of the fireworks that reflect on the laguna’s water…

Venice always deserves a visit, but mainly in this occasion, since the fireworks show truly takes your breath away!

Se non avete voglia di addentrarvi nella calli decisamente affollate della città (quest’anno si sono contate 110mila presenze), non abbiate paura: i fuochi si possono ammirare a distanza di decine di chilometri lungo tutta la zona che costeggia la laguna; io ho potuto assistervi per anni dal bacino di San Marco, dove si radunano centinaia di barche per ammirare lo spettacolo dall’acqua…credetemi che è un’esperienza davvero indimenticabile!

Quest’anno vi ho assistito dal vicino parco del San Giuliano, quello dove normalmente si svolge l’Heineken Jammin’ Festival, muniti di asciugamano e stick antizanzare…ma devo ammettere che il sapore è del tutto diverso!

Per l’occasione ho indossato questo vestitino a fiori di Pull&Bear che ho comprato nella prima giornata di saldi in Veneto (giornata di code pazzesche, ahimè!): ho abbinato le mie ballerine rosa per richiamare il tono più tenue dei fiorellini, bracciale Accessorize rosso e rosa, smalto chiaramente rosso e borsa Guess marrone. Cosa ne dite??!!

Non mi resta che augurarvi un buon proseguimento di settimana!

If you don’t want to go into the overcrowded calli (this years there were 110thousand persons), then there’s no need to worry: fireworks can be admired also several kilometres far from Venice; for years I had the chance to watch them from the St. Mark’s basin, where hundreds of boats and yachts come to admire the show straight from the water…well, believe me that this is an unforgettable experience!

This year I admired the fireworks from the park of San Giuliano, one of Europe biggest parks nearby Venice, equipped with beach towel and mosquitoes killer…anyway I must admit that the effect isn’t the same at all!

For this night, I decided to wear this flower Pull&Bear dress I bought during the first day of sales here in Veneto (a day full of long queues, unfortunately!): I matched it with my pink flats, Accessorize red and pink bracelet, deep red nail colour and brown Guess bag. What do you think of this outfit??!!

L’estate è fantastica perché basta poco per stare bene…una fetta d’anguria fresca dopo una giornata stressante…una borsa di paglia, asciugamano e costume…un vestitino e un po’ d’ombra.

Contando i giorni che mi dividono dalle tanto attese vacanze di Agosto, mi consolo con qualche nuovo acquisto!

Summer is fantastic because it takes little to feel good…a slice of fresh watermelon after a stressful day at work…a straw bag, beach towel and swimsuit…a dress and some shadow from the sun.

While I’m counting the days that separate me from the so long awaited August holidays, I pamper myself with some new acquisition!

In my mind: Kate Perry vs. Versace

Ammetto di non essere una grande fan di Kate Perry, ma senz’altro la ragazza ha uno stile piuttosto interessante…Tanto nelle occasioni formali ed ufficiali, quanto in quelle più casalinghe, propone sempre outfits molto colorati che strizzano l’occhio agli ultimi trend di stagione.

Ciò che non condivido sono le mise che sfoggia sul palco, un po’ eccessive per i miei gusti, ma del resto il suo personaggio è anche questo, è divenuta famosa indossando hot pants e balconcini!!

Io la vedo molto donna anni ’50, mora, formosa e decisamente bella, mi ricorda molto le donne Versace in versione mora…

I must admit I’m not a big fan of Kate Perry, but the girl definitely has a quite interesting style… Both in formal occasions and more domestic ones, she wears truly colourful outfits that follow the mayor fashion trends.

I don’t like her stage outfits, a little too excessive for my taste, but well, it’s part of her public character since she became famous wearing hot pants and sexy bras!!

In my mind, she reminds me of the woman from the ‘50s, black haired, big curves and so beautiful…also, she reminds me a black haired version of the Versace woman…

I left a piece of my heart in Udine…it’s coming back on Friday morning. *

* Ho lasciato un pezzo del mio cuore a Udine…tornerà Venerdì mattina.

Eccomi tornata!!! Come avete passato questa mini vacanza?! Io meravigliosamente…Sono partita martedì sera per Udine per passare la giornata con il mio tesorino che studia lì: la sera siamo usciti per una pizza con il suo coinquilino (Ciao Abdul e Linda!!) e devo dire che la città mi ha molto sorpresa, piena di vita e locali molto carini.

Mercoledì invece siamo andati a fare i romanticoni sul lago!!! Pic nic e giretto tra le campagne alle porte di Udine: prima di tornare a casa ci siamo inerpicati sulla collina che porta al Castello, dal quale si può ammirare una vista davvero splendida.

Il vestitino che ho deciso di indossare è il regalo che mi sono fatta il mese scorso per il mio compleanno: lo trovo molto bon ton ma anche sexy al punto giusto! Ho abbinato le classiche ballerine nere e il mio golfino preferito che al posto dei solito bottoni ha delle finte perle (ho sudato sette camicie per trovarlo! Grazie Benetton Treviso!!)…

Penso che il titolo di questo post sia abbastanza eloquente…mi sono divertita tantissimo e finalmente, dopo la delusione del nostro viaggio a Londra annullato a causa della famigerata nuvola, ho avuto la possibilità di passare un po’ di tempo da sola con il mio amore…Devo ringraziare anzitutto lui per i meravigliosi momenti che abbiamo passato insieme, è proprio vero che a volte basta pochissimo per essere in paradiso!

I’m back!! As I told you in my latest post, Wednesday was a national festivity here in Italy, which means no work!!! I spent it wonderfully...I left home on Tuesday evening and headed to Udine to spend the next day with my honey, who’s studying there: that evening we went out for a pizza with his roommate (Hi Abdul and Linda!!) an I must say the city truly surprised me, it’s full of life and nice bars.

On Wednesday we went for a romantic day by the lake!!! We had a pic nic and drove through the fields around Udine: before I headed back home, we climbed the hill that leads to the Castle, which offers a breathtaking view of the city.

The dress I decided to wear is the one I gifted myself for my birthday last month: I think it’s so bon-ton yet a little bit sexy! I matched it with classic black flats and my favourite sweater which has little pearls instead of buttons (it was so hard to find! Thank you Benetton in Treviso!!)…

I think the title of this post truly tells it all…I had such a great fun and after the disappointment for our cancelled trip to London, I finally had the chance to spend some time alone with my love…More than anything, I must thank my honey for the wonderful moments we spent together, it’s so true that sometimes it takes just a little to be in paradise!
