Jonathan Safran Foer ( Elijah Wood ) is a young jew -American Ukrainian . decides to take a trip to Ukraine in the remote village of Trachimbrod , where his grandfather lived . The boy decides to go in search of the woman who during the Second World War had saved the life of his grandfather, hiding from the Nazis raid.
To afford the trip will rely on a local guide and his nephew Alex's own age, who will act as interpreter with his outlandish English , and help him in his rigid search .
