R.I.P. Rúnar Júlíusson

Guðmundur Rúnar Júlíusson was born in Keflavík 13. April 1945. He was the son of Júlíus Eggertsson & Guðrún Stefánsdóttir Bergmann.
Rúnar played bass guitar in Hljómar, the band gave its first concert 5. October 1963 @ Innri Njarðvík. His next band was Trúbrot (1969).
Rúnar & María Baldursdóttir started the Record Label Geimsteinn in the year 1976. Today the oldest label of Iceland. Rúnar released solo albums and with the band Geimsteinn. Áhöfnina á Halastjörnunni with Gylfa Ægissyni (1980). Hljómsveit Rúnars Júlíussonar. GCD with Bubbi Morthens (1991).
Geimstein released 250 Albums of the bands Geimstein, Áhöfnina á Halastjörnunni, María Baldursdóttir, Bjartmar Guðlaugsson, Þóri Baldursson, Deep Jimi and the Zep Creams, Hjálmar & Baggalútur.
Best of 3CD (period 1966-2008) containing 72 songs by Rúnar, was released recently.
Rúnar's name "Hr. Rokk" was introduced by Ásgeir Tómasson.
Rúnar died of a heartattack.
